Post by Abbas Ali »

According to news sources, Pakistan Air Line Pilots' Association (PALPA) member pilots of PIA will go by the book from October 1. According to news reports:

PIA management has accused PALPA of blackmailing the airline. The airline says licence of PALPA member pilot was cancelled by CAA not by the airline.

Thirty-four PIA flights have been cancelled in last thirty-six hours causing big losses to the airline.

Cancelled flights include:

PK-295 from Lahore to Abu Dhabi via Rahim Yar Khan.
PK-363 from Islamabad to Karachi via Quetta.
PK-302 from Karachi to Lahore.
PK-350 from Karachi to Peshawar.
PK-247 from Lahore to Dammam.
PK-584 from Karachi to Dera Ghazi Khan.
PK-203 from Lahore to Dubai.
PK-352 from Karachi to Islamabad via Quetta.

Sixteen PALPA member pilots reported sick on October 1.

A simple solution is to fire the pilots who can't medically prove that they are sick and to give a warning to the pilots on strike that if they don't return to work tomorrow they will be terminated from their jobs

Let's see how many pilots will stay on strike after hearing this

I wish PIA get enough courage to terminate these slackers, Airline is in loss so it's not a big deal that flights are cancelled or not even planned from next month. Only right person with right attitude should be employed rest should be shown door.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Aviation Capt. Shujaat Azeem in an interview with Express News channel said that PALPA is welfare organisation for pilots and it should not interfere in management affairs of the airline.

He said that PALPA demand for 100% increase in pilots' salaries is unjustified. Unjust demand of pilots will not be supported, he said.

He also said that majority of pilots are cooperating with PIA management and only 5 flights were cancelled today. More than 100 PIA flights were operated today.

According to PTV News headlines, under an order issued by Aviation Division, medical reports/certificates submitted by PIA pilots reporting sick will undergo scrutiny/investigation/verification process by CAA. Inquiry report will be submitted to Aviation Division by CAA.

The investigation will identify fake (if any) medical reports submitted by pilots for further action.
