Incident: PIA B773 at New York on Sep 8th 2015, gear did not retract

A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration AP-BID performing flight PK-722 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Lahore (Pakistan), was climbing out of New York's runway 13R when the crew requested to stop the climb at 6000 feet advising of a gear disagree indication. The crew requested vectors to keep them close to the airport while working the checklists and trying to resolve the issue, but was unable to resolve the indication. About one hour after levelling off at 6000 feet the crew positioned the aircraft for a VOR approach to runway 13L, landed safely and vacated the runway.

The occurrence aircraft was able to depart after about 3:20 hours on the ground and is estimated to reach Lahore with a delay of 4:40 hours.

On Sep 10th 2015 The Aviation Herald learned that a maintenance engineer had installed gear pins, maintenance was continued by the next shift who did not remove the gear pins. The gear pins did not carry the red tags and thus were invisible during the walk around by ground personnel and the flight crew.
