MD PIA Shahnawaz Rehman is on Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) since August 15, according to news report on following link:

He was appointed as MD PIA in July 2014.

If he was so close to retirement then it was very unwise to appoint him in the first place. Some continuity to be able to produce any sort of results would have been good.

According to Geo News, MD PIA leave started on August 27.

According to Geo News reporter, the MD wanted PIA-Etihad Airways codeshare reviewed after three months to find out whether it was useful for PIA or not. This made a high-level official in Aviation Division unhappy.
