Code Share the only solution for PIA

Post by Amaad Lone »

PIA is facing an onslaught of flights from Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Turkish.

All four airlines have a huge network and PIA can never match the frequency that these airlines offer to certain PIA routes.

Might be a good idea to re-start talks with an airline like THY with a huge European network to code share out of Istanbul.

A daily flight to Istanbul from Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore can feed a 1000 passengers a day into the European and North American flights of THY.

PIA can retain and increase flights Toronto and keep the U.K stations. Other then that what are we giving up, few flights to Paris, Milan, Oslo and Copenhagen. Barcelona, Frankfurt, Rome, Athens and Amsterdam are already shut.

With code sharing with an airline like THY PIA can compete with the daily flights of Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways. Beat them at their own game.

Plus shut the twice weekly New York flight, put that 200LR to expand Toronto and use THY daily flights into North America or maybe even code share the U.S flights via London on American or British Airways.

Dear Ahmed,
Good to hear your positive thoughts about PIA.... PK-TK CODESHARE was planned 2,3 years ago (ABBAS bhai better knows the details and might be reported on this forum too) which was criticized by different organizations at that time. In my opinion that was very healthy deal but anyhow PIA now join hands with Etihad. Lets see what will be outcome.

Mostly people especially Pakistani expatriates tried to travel directly and PIA is the only solution... I blv 4 weekly flights to toronto are good enough...
