@capt_747 I agree
@ 747-300 hahaha Amazing
If the Induction of the 747-8 will become reality - no one here knows which price Boeing has offered PIA for them. As this Aircraft Type is a bad seller Iam really sure that Boeing tries to offer it with a very huge Discount! - So I would just say sit back, wait and we'll see what will come

Hamad I agree with you.
PIA are a business, they wouldn't go around and ask some screen huggers to give their opinion or vote on whether they should or shouldn't buy B747-8i.
As long as their shareholders are happy (govt of Pakistan) they would go ahead and buy them.
The 747-8i isn't a fuel guzzler unlike the previous versions plus it's not the best seller so it's a plus point for PIA to get massive discount on its purchase.
B742 & 743 served PIA for almost 30 years and without them PIA as an airline would have doomed, I don't see why they shouldn't induct the -8i as their future fleet.
I wish PIA all the best and pray whatever decision they make, they succeed.
Ameen

The orbital speed of the Earth around the Sun averages about 30 km/s or 18 mps (108,000 km/h or 67000 mph).
Which means we're travelling 97 times the speed of sound. And yet we can't feel the motion, SubhanAllah

You should check the retro livery crap and Shujaat Azeem's twitter and then say "ask some screen huggers to give their opinion"cpt_747 wrote:PIA are a business, they wouldn't go around and ask some screen huggers to give their opinion or vote on whether they should or shouldn't buy B747-8i.
We all know what makes them happy '$$$'cpt_747 wrote: As long as their shareholders are happy (govt of Pakistan) they would go ahead and buy them.
It may not be, but as compared to b787 or a330 what will you think???cpt_747 wrote: The 747-8i isn't a fuel guzzler unlike the previous versions plus it's not the best seller so it's a plus point for PIA to get massive discount on its purchase.
Yes that was need of the hour, but now PIA is shrinking, would you identify any destination that PIA can serve with these giants???cpt_747 wrote: B742 & 743 served PIA for almost 30 years and without them PIA as an airline would have doomed, I don't see why they shouldn't induct the -8i as their future fleet.

PIA flew 747s for almost 40 years, May 2016 marks the period.

I dont think it was a rumor but its something that was being looked at and discussed with Boeing and the news leaked out.
Its like you are buying a house and the agent will try and push something else even if it dosent suit you like it has too many rooms, though it might cost the same as the house you are interested in, so you do consider and discuss it with the seller but eventually realise its not suitable, but news leaked out you are getting a bigger house.

They should get 7 or 8 787 instead of the Jumbos

Why has that guy stopped posting in the forum? he shared intresting news, so what if he started the 747 rumor.
Boeing could build 2 and sell three already built ones to PK even after shutting the program, its all tied with politics as well, some nice military contract of other benefit and the US govt. will instruct Boeing to do so.

Re: PIA is going to induct 5 Boeing 747-8
I think that Boeing needs to get rid of the Transaero 747s, only this seems to be a right justification to sell them to PIA. Other than that I think there are a few 787s waiting for Kenya airways that haven't been delivered yet because of financial problems.

That plane has some defects and she is now being used by Boeing as a test aircraft for future developmentCoyBoy wrote:One reject 748 NTU by Lufthansa also available.
