Baku is a former PIA destination.
In 1996, PIA was operating once-a-week flight every Sunday between Karachi and Baku via Ashgabat with leased Tupolev Tu-154 tri-jet.

Re: Turkish Airlines to Introduce Daily Flights for Islamabad
Turkish is very happy with both Boeing and airbus as both offers them fuel efficiency as well as max options for medium level destinations. They are one of the leading and fast growing airlines because they are updating their fleet.. Almost all Europeon and South Asian/Middle eastern destinations are under the range of A320 and B737-800 series. They are also operating B77W as well as A330-200/300 and A340 series....

Re: Turkish Airlines to Introduce Daily Flights for Islamabad
Good to hear, though Baku seems like such an odd stopping point!
It's great that Turkish is flying the A330 into both Islamabad and Lahore. Are they flying the A330 into Karachi too, or is that on a B737? Istanbul to Karachi seems like such a long route for a narrow body aircraft.

Azerbaijan soon to have air link with Pakistan
27 JULY 2015
Baku, Azerbaijan, July 27
By Seba Aghayeva – Trend:
An air service is being opened between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Dashgin Shikarov told Trend July 27.
Starting from August 12, Shikarov said, the aircraft of the Turkish Airlines will fly on the Islamabad-Baku-Istanbul route.
Under a tripartite agreement, the flights will take place twice a week – on Mondays and Fridays using the planes of the Turkish Airlines.
Tickets for the flight will be about $600-$650, and flight time will be about three hours.
The agreement to resume the air link was reached during the Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain’s official visit to Azerbaijan in March this year.
“Mamnoon Hussain made this initiative at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev,” said the ambassador. “Azerbaijan’s president supported it.”
He added that the issue of extending the current Istanbul-Islamabad flight to Baku was also discussed with Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
“Opening of the flight will contribute to the development of the two countries’ cooperation in the area of tourism,” said Shikarov.
“Pakistan’s people love Azerbaijan,” the diplomat said further. “During the first European games the Pakistanis had an opportunity to even better get acquainted with our country via the programs and video clips broadcast on the local TV channels, and many have expressed a desire to visit Azerbaijan.”
“Now they have got such an opportunity,” he added.
Opening of the flight will also contribute to economic ties between the two countries, said the ambassador.
Over January-June 2015, the trade between Azerbaijan and Pakistan stood at $1,318,400, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC).

The service isnt by azeri of pakistani carriers so nothing to get excited about, also heard its very difficul;t to obtain azeri visa even for westerners.
Azerbaijan Airlines had served KHI though back in the 90s with 727, dont know routing.

Re: Turkish Airlines to Introduce Daily Flight for Islamabad and Link it With Baku
I was due to fly on TK740 from Istanbul to Islamabad, via Baku departing 18 August at 1840 hours. However, a few days ago I received a changed itinerary from the airline as this flight has been changed to now operate Istanbul - Islamabad non-stop as TK710.
Wonder if this is a one off change or flights via Baku are not starting just yet?
