Post by Abbas Ali »

Two more Airbus A320-200 aircraft are going to join Shaheen Air fleet.

Pakistani aircraft registrations AP-BMC and AP-BMD are reserved for the two aircraft.

The two A320s are currently in USA.

Thanks to Faizan Khan for the info.

They will definitely have to get rid of those 734s , A330s, as well as a couple of A320s manufactured in 1997 an 1998 in next 2 years due to the new aviation policy. How difficult this is for the airline which had recently inducted a large fleet of narrowbodies and widebodies, which form a major part of their fleet, and now have to replace all due to this baseless conditions applied by new NAP.

Shaheen will start retire its 734 from onwards, any 734 that comes from C Checks will be grounded effectively, additionally 4 330 will be joining the fleet by the end 2015 and early 2016.

They couldn't enforce good maintaince so they slap 20 year thing.

A 25 year old well maintained plane is better than 15 year not very well maintained. Even Air Canada flies 20+ years old A320s and lufthansa also flies B737 classic. Already airlines are struggling in face of ME and gov't makes it even harder for them. Who will buy 20 year old plane now? Very few buyers so they'll sell for very little price.

anyway, i think its good for Pakistani people to be flying on somewhat newer aircrafts these days. Why should they only fly on 30 yr old aircrafts?

Time to move on, and force these airlines to bring a little newer aircraft (since they cannot afford new birds)

The two A320s are:

Construction number 2496 built in 2005.
Construction number 2502 built in 2005.

Thanks to Faizan Khan for the info.

Shaheen Air is probably acquiring them on dry lease from AerCap.

2005 means they must retire by 2025. Maybe 10 year lease?

Probably these two A320s have seat-back in-flight entertainment (IFE) system because both are former Kingfisher Airlines aircraft (registrations VT-KFC & VT-KFD).

Unfortunately the leasing company had the seats removed and got them fitted with old seats. :(

Probably save on costs for lease. The leasing company can fit them in another plane.

But they should've paid additional for these seats considering they'll have the plan for 5-10 years. Unless they plan to use it for 1-3 hours flight.

Dublin, Ireland, probably next technical stop for this A320.
