PAF C-130s to Evacuate Pakistanis from Kathmandu

Pakistan is sending four Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to Kathmandu with relief goods for people affected by earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25.

Two PAF C-130s have arrived in Kathmandu. The two aircraft airlifted dry ration items and a mobile hospital from PAF Base Nur Khan, Chaklala, to Kathmandu.

The PAF C-130s on return flight to Pakistan from Kathmandu will carry Pakistanis stranded in Nepal or affected by the earthquake in that country. Commercial flight operations at Kathmandu Airport are affected due to earthquake and Pakistan's national flag carrier PIA does not operate flights to/from Kathmandu.

Due to bad weather, the two PAF C-130s did not fly to Kathmandu today.

The two aircraft will now fly to Kathmandu on April 28.

BTW, PAF L-100 serial number 4144 and C-130 serial number 4189 are both nearly forty-eight years old.

A PAF C-130 also departed from PAF Base Nur Khan, Chaklala, for Kathmandu this morning.

The PAF aircraft will return from Kathmandu with fifty-nine evacuated Pakistanis .

The two PAF aircraft that operated relief flights to Kathmandu today were L-100 serial number 4144 and C-130 serial number 4189. On April 26 also these two Hercules flew to Kathmandu. So far, Pakistan has sent a total of four PAF C-130/L-100 relief flights to Kathmandu.

The two aircraft carried more than six hundred tents, medicines and dry ration items.

So far, Pakistan has sent a total of six PAF C-130/L-100 relief flights to Kathmandu.

Probably a PAF aircraft's return flight to Pakistan will also carry a Pakistani man's Nepalese wife and their newly born child stranded in Kathmandu. Pakistan visa has been issued on urgent basis to the newly born child by Pakistan Embassy in Nepal.
