Gilgit Should Have Airport for Jet Flights Says PM Sharif

Today, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a public meeting in Gilgit said that airport in Gilgit should be made capable of handling jet flights.

He said that in case expansion of existing Gilgit Airport for handling jet flights is not possible then an airport capable of handling jet flights should be constructed at a new location in Gilgit.

He said that airport in Gilgit capable of handling jet flights will help in exporting products like fruits of the region and will also help in attracting Gulf airlines like Emirates and Qatar Airways. He gave example of Sialkot Airport that has managed to attract these Gulf airlines.

Elections are going to conduct in near future in Gilgit and this visit was part of election campaign. All of us know during these type of campaign very rear promises came into reality.

These routes scream regional jet.
