why are army commandos escorting PM off the plane?...is PM so scared that he can't be alone for a moment...It is army base...

If this is the level of insecurity the PM feels for himself in such a secure place like "Chaklala Air Base".. Then There is no way this govt. can ever protect ordinary citizen.

Or maybe he wants to impress Boeing Officials...

Islamabad int'l airport and Airbase both are connected to one another. Both have got one runway for landing and take off either it is C130 or any commercial plane.

I knew it!!!!!!!!!!! This was the mystery 777 that I saw fly over my house this evening at around 7pm! I sent a message to Amaad about it but he never replied. I heard the familiar sound of what I knew was a 777 so I went outside and sure enough I saw this 777 with a dark blue belly, engines and tail fly right over my house. It also came to KHI.

I was a bit stumped as I couldn't figure out which airline it was. EK didn't depart at that time and SV didn't have a dark blue fuselage and BA doesn't come here so the fleeting thought did cross my mind that it the colors looked a hell of alot like those on the LR at the Paris air show but then I dismissed it as this was the last thing I was expecting to see in KHI. It was flying off in a westerly direction towards the sea. We all missed it. How come it wasn't announced?

Basically Pakistani govt and PIA didn't want any public viewing of the 777-200LR. Hence they did not even bother announcing its presence.

which 1st or 2nd 777LR did you see or photo at RWP Islamabad airport today? where it fly from?

Boeing 777-200LR comes to Karachi on test-run

KARACHI (June 24 2005): The elegant looking airliner Boeing 777-200LR flew into Karachi on Thursday afternoon on its maiden flight to display the innovations the aircraft is equipped with for the comfort and convenience of the travellers. The test aircraft which is to visit 24 countries the world-over will be open for inspection in all the five countries, including Pakistan, which have placed firm order for its delivery next year.

Bradley D.Till, Regional Director, Product Marketing, Commercial Airplanes, briefing newsmen on board the giant size aircraft said that 777-200LR is the largest twin-engine airliner in the world today.

The aircraft during its present test-run has flown very comfortably and to the satisfaction of the crew and the Boeing officials. It would be presented for certification in December this year and in January next the first of the two aircraft on order by national carrier Pakistan International Airlines will be ready for delivery.

Bradley said that the aircraft could fly from one city to any other in the world non-stop, thus, not only saving time but also fuel in the process.

Tariq Kirmani, Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines, also arrived here from Islamabad in the same aircraft. Though his name was mentioned as the host for the inspection visit of the aircraft, he left quietly with out even saying hello to the journalists who may have extended greetings to him on the occasion.

In the words of Alan Mulally, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes: " This airplane can connect virtually any two cities in the planet. Dubai and Los Angeles, New York and Singapore, Sydney and Paris and Karachi and Houston."

piafan i dont think its a question of the PM not feeling secure. I believe thats the protocol extended to all heads of states/governments where ever they go. the only difference is that in Pakistan its the commandos who provide that security as compared to secret service or MI5 or the french secret service etc. The commandos are more vivible as they wear uniforms where as the others are wearing civil clothes so they are not that vsisible.

On other note great pics, wish i was there. Too bad you missed it saad.
