AP-BFT (PIA B737-3) Being Dismantled

Post by Abdullah »

Recently, AP-BFT (PIA B737-3) seen being dismantled at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. Registration Marks, Landing Gears, Vertical Stabilizer and Horizontal Stabilizers were missing.

Possibly, It's fuselage being prepared for any special storage or to be handed over to Pakistan Army..?? As Pakistan Army officials were present on the scene.

^ Some weeks ago PTV News reported that fuselage of a retired PIA aircraft will be donated to a Pakistani security organization for anti-hijacking training.

Probably AP-BFT fuselage to be used for that purpose?

That's how this Boeing 737-300 looked before delivery to PIA. It was delivered as AP-BCE in June 1985 and later re-registered as AP-BFT.

A gentleman at PIA Planetarium in Lahore told me that there are plans to move a retired PIA Boeing 737-300 to airline's planetarium in Karachi.

The airline is planning to move the aircraft by road from Karachi airport to city's planetarium.

The retired Boeing 720-047B registration AP-AXM currently on display at PIA Planetarium in Karachi will be scrapped before the arrival of Boeing 737-300, he said.

Is this information correct?
