PIA Aircraft to Carry Sri Lankan President

Under the directive of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a PIA aircraft will perform special flight to carry President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena from Karachi to Islamabad today, according to news sources.

The Sri Lankan President landed at Karachi Airport at 3:57 PM today for three-day visit to Pakistan. He arrived in Karachi aboard SriLankan Airlines commercial flight UL-183 from Colombo performed by airline's Airbus A320-214 registration 4R-ABO.

Probably PIA Airbus A320-214 registration AP-BLD performing flight PK-3702 from Karachi to Islamabad is carrying President of Sri Lanka.

The A320 departed from Karachi at 5:15 PM.

Islamabad Airport website not displaying PK-3702 arrival information which probably indicates it's a VIP flight.

And yes 3702 is a VIP flight.

Neither A320 of PIA is a luxury aircraft nor its as good as Srilankan Airlines. Wonder what's wrong. Why not to use 3 G450s that air force has for such VIP movements. They are cheaper to use, plus spares the A320 for commercial flights.

I don't see a point in specially detailing an airbus for a VIP flight for the SriLankan president when he prefers to travel by a scheduled commercial flight from Colombo to Karachi. The most we could have done is that to arrange some VIP seats on a scheduled flight of PAF C-130 flying Karachi-Islamabad. That would have been more than enough.

Why can't Nawaz Sharif go to Karachi and meetup with Sri Lankan President in Karachi. That would save PIA a lot of head ache and the rest of country too.

Why SriLankan President cannot take regular PIA flight why a special flight.
