ALL 777-200LR and 777-300ER have GE90-110B and 115BL engines respectively.

It's the same engine.

All you need to do is swap out a ratings plug on the GE90-110B EEC/ECU is you want the higher thrust from the -115 variant

Also, most airlines actually operate the -200LR with the highest thrust -115 variant.

Kenya Airways is also considering the future of its fleet of three B777-300(ER)s amid reports the widebody jets are proving too large for Kenya Airways' requirements. Delivered in 2013 and 2014, the jets, leased from General Electric Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), were to have been used on flights to Amsterdam, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Guangzhou and Dubai Int'l but are now limited to only to the Amsterdam and London Heathrow routes.

Kenya Airways is facing increased competition on flights to Europe and Asia from neighbours Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa) as well as from Emirates (EK, Dubai Int'l), Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad Int'l) and Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l).

The Kenya national carrier is reportedly leaning towards more B787s as the type has proven ideal for its long- and medium-haul requirements. As it currently stands, Kenya Airways has taken delivery of six out of nine B787-8s on order from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) while maintaining options for an additional four airframes

Someone suggested that Kenya flights from Ams on an average base only carry 100 pax that is why the 787 is better for them. I think PIA Should learn something from this and maybe convert the 777 deal to two 787s?

Any idea from where these A330s are coming and without competitive bidding process?

I think PIA as a public sector enterprise cannot induct aircraft (dry or wet lease) without following Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules/regulations.

Any special reason why deal of 767 went off?

A330 bids were there in the tender process.
Agreement not signed yet but in final stages for two A330s from "Air Asia X"

Strangely AirAsia X Airbus A330s were not mentioned in bids evaluation report that was uploaded on PIA website.

However, an Airbus A330-300 construction number 127 currently registered as CS-TRI and offered by Hifly was rejected in that report.

I wonder what costs are now linked to training of crew towards these types of aircraft, especially the A330
