PIA Plans to Operate ATR 72 for Muscat Flights

Post by Abbas Ali »

PIA intends to replace 48-seater ATR 42-500 with 66-seater ATR 72-500 on flights linking Turbat and Gwadar with Muscat.

PIA is also planning to increase flights that link Muscat with Islamabad, Turbat and Gwadar.

PIA operates non-stop flights that link Muscat with Pakistani cities of Gwadar, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Sialkot and Turbat.

This quote from Shahzad M. Paracha (in the linked article) stood out to me:
"We do not make money in this route but we operate it as there are thousands of Pakistani nationals who live in these places and work in Muscat. Besides that, no other airlines operate in this route from Muscat"
I'm surprised he was so upfront about the route not being profitable.
