Princely Jets (princelyjets.com), Pakistan's only private jet and helicopter charter-company has launched a 'City Helicopter Tour' service in Karachi on Tuesday. First time in the country, the general public has an opportunity to feel the pleasure of 'VIP' travel and enjoy a panoramic view of Karachi through helicopter. CEO Princely Jets, Ghouse Akbar, said that they were offering helicopter ride at a nominal fare of just Rs 25,000 and this was a common feature of tourism related services.

All major metropolitan cities of the world, including London, Paris, New York and Dubai etc offer helicopter ride to its domestic and foreign tourists. "Through this initiative, Princely Jets wants to promote domestic tourism as well as a soft image of the country to the foreign world as chartered helicopters and chartered planes are commonly used in the developed world for business as well as leisure purposes".

"Princely Jets offers customers the opportunity to see the city of Karachi and the surrounding area in a whole new way - from the skies!" Ghouse said that they had launched helicopter ride initially in Karachi and it would later be extended across the country, especially northern areas. "Princely Jets is offering 'City Helicopter Tour' service with latest Eurocopter EC 130 B4 helicopters". Replying to a question, he said that Princely Jets could induct more whirlybirds in its fleet but it was subjected to the tourists' response. "We design each tour with the goal that guests will be talking about the memories of this helicopter tour in the years to come".

The Helicopter ride offers aerial sightseeing of the city's natural environment and dramatic coastlines as well as major city land marks and operated by Princely Jets from its base at Karachi International Airport, each tour will last approximately 1 hour which includes a route briefing by the crew, refreshments and a 20 minute helicopter tour.

Helicopter tours are the latest in a series of recent moves taken by Princely Jets. However, the company also hopes to widen Karachi's appeal beyond the region, encouraging more international and local visitors from Europe and Asia. In addition, the company, which has a plan to offer air taxi services to the travellers to and from Karachi International Airport, has a capacity to use its helicopters as air-ambulance and fire extinguisher besides that power distribution companies can also reduce its distribution losses up to 5 to 8 per cent by cleaning PMTs through whirlybirds.

Ghouse further said that they had approached different organisations including trade bodies, insurance companies, etc for its services but no positive response had been received so far. Moreover, he said that there was a huge potential in private air charter industry as only 20 private jets were operating in Pakistan as compared to India and Middle East, where around 400 and 1200 private jets were available for charter respectively.
