PTCL to Improve ATC Communication System in Pakistan
KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for installation of the state-of-the-art communication system to facilitate air traffic controls (ATC), a statement said.
CAA Deputy Director General Air Vice Marshal Khawar Hussain and PTCL Chief Digital Service Officer Mohammad Kamal signed the agreement, it said.
The installation of the system will be completed in 120 days’ time, which will help speed up the communication process and will facilitate air traffic controllers in transmitting and receiving the data in real time, as the system is 99.9 percent reliable and efficient, it said.
The state-of-the-art communication system has a backup system in place, which will help transmit the data through wireless communication if for some reason Fiber Optic System fails, the statement said.
The new system will help enhance the audio communication between air traffic controllers and pilots in a manner that all the communication will take place in real time without any distortion, it added.

Hopefully it has a system in place for safely recording ALL communications so no one can tamper with it.
