According to report in a local newspaper, PIA operated its Airbus A320-200 to Bahawalpur Airport for the first time on October 4. The A320 carried about 150 passengers and crew.
According to information on following link, PIA Airbus A320-214 registration AP-BLC performed airline's flight PK-588 from Karachi to Bahawalpur on October 4.

Later, the A320 left Bahawalpur as flight PK-589 to Karachi.

Oh God. I am appalled to hear that the call signs beginning with 5 are now being flown by jets. Call signs beginning with 5 or 6 are always flown by the ATRs since they are generally short sectors. But now that only a couple of ATRs are flying what else can you expect. The pre Hajj flights that flew from Multan to Jeddah. First the 777 operated KHI-MUX sector. There are many ways by which you can avoid such short sectors on the bigger jets.

The PIA A320 arrived in Bahawalpur from Karachi via Sukkur, according to the news report.
Probably equipment upgraded to accommodate extra Eid passengers?

PIA A320 (AP-BLC) also operated KHI-LYP-KHI flight a few days ago, saw its picture over PIA's facebook page.
