Re: Special Flights to Evacuate Pakistanis from Libya
Reports in international media showing burnt and badly damaged aircrafts by rocket attacks are a good reason not to fly to Libya and i highly doubt if any other airline can do such attempts knowing the hazards.

PIA and aircraft of other countries have operated relief flights from Tripoli's Mitiga International Airport (MJI).
Tripoli International Airport (TIP) is affected by battles between various armed groups and some of aircraft parked at that airport have been damaged/destroyed.

The photo of the AP-BEG cabin shows a 9 across layout. I presume it is especially configured for the evacuation flight. Is this the same for Hajj flights?

Probably some sort of ceremony organized by Pakistan embassy in Libya?raihans wrote:any idea for the Pakistan flag?
Somewhere I read that option of refueling aircraft is not available at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli.Moin wrote:Could the A310 not fly nonstop to and from Tripoli??
Probably the A310 flies non-stop from Pakistan to Tripoli and on its return journey gets refueled in Malta.

261 stranded Pakistanis brought home from Libya
ISLAMABAD: As many as 261 more stranded Pakistanis were brought back from Libya by a special chartered flight on Tuesday. This brings the total number of Pakistanis so far evacuated from Libya to 970.
The flight from Tripoli, which landed at Lahore, was chartered on the special directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, read a Foreign Office statement.
The statement also read it was the fourth special flight organised so far, to evacuate Pakistanis from Libya, where security situation had deteriorated rapidly in the last few months, following the commencement of hostilities among rival militias.
Thousand of Pakistanis were displaced trying to flee from the rampant violence and got stranded. Pakistan’s Embassy in Tripoli set up various relief camps, presently housing over 3000 nationals.
Besides three PIA flights already operated, special chartered flights had now been arranged, since the commencement of Hajj season had limited the ability of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to operate flights to Libya.
The embassy in Tripoli has devised a transparent registration mechanism to queue up the stranded Pakistanis for the ongoing chartered flights, which are likely to run on a daily basis during the next 10 days.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) had been advised to facilitate the arrival of evacuated Pakistanis and provide them all support for onward travel.
The OPF has set up a focal point in the foundation and accordingly facilitation desks will be operated at the respective airports, she added.
It may be recalled that a crisis management cell had been set up by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to organise the massive relief and evacuation operation for over 6000 Pakistanis severely affected by the current spate of instability and violence in Libya.
The smooth functioning of the ongoing effort has been greatly helped by the excellent cooperation provided by the Finance Ministry, Aviation Division and OPF.
