Why they are not trying for domestic routes EMBRAER 195 ? Modern plane ~124 seats . Leasing cost is 2-3 time cheep than Airbus 319. Bulgaria Air have in there fleet. Even than they buy , the price(~35000000 USD) is 3 time cheep than 319 or 737-NG. The best plane for Airlines in Pakistan .

Apparently airblue returned wet leased Windrose Airbus A321-231 registration UR-WRH on January 22.

UR-WRH ferried from Lahore Airport to Montpellier Mediterranee Airport (France) via Abu Dhabi (UAE) & Kharkiv International Airport (Ukraine).

Apparently another Windrose A321 registration UR-WRJ joined airblue as wet leased aircraft recently.

UR-WRJ was ferried from Boryspil International Airport, Kiev, Ukraine, to Karachi on January 15, 2015.

Presently following three Windrose A321s are on wet lease to airblue.

Windrose Airbus A321-231 registration UR-WRH ferried from Montpellier Mediterranee Airport (France) to Karachi Airport via Boryspil International Airport (Ukraine) to resume wet lease with airblue.

The A321 landed at Karachi Airport at 5:12 PM today.

Presently following four Windrose A321s in Pakistan for airblue. Maybe one of them will now return to Ukraine after the arrival of UR-WRH.

maybe airblue does not have money to buy aircraft and can only afford to lease them ?
or it could be maintenance-related issues?

Yes there is an issue of maintenance also . Leasing company will avoid to give plane any company who do,nt have proper maintenance. they prefer an EASA MRO . If airline will guaranty it then no problem otherwise rejection or price will be too high . So no way except to take on wet lease from companies like WINDROSE

^ Recently Windrose Airbus A321-231 registration UR-WRH went to France to undergo maintenance checks before resuming wet lease term with airblue.

And, Windrose Airbus A330-223 registration UR-WRQ underwent maintenance checks at Lufthansa Technik Brussels in Belgium before joining airblue.

So, I believe these Windrose aircraft have good maintenance record.

Thanks Abbas for the information, it is good to know that maintenance is welldone on airblue aircrafts.
Airblue seems a big fan of Airbus aircrafts.....Boeing must be too expensive for them ?

How many aircraft does airblue OWN itself, if any?

^ I think airblue can afford to acquire Boeing aircraft on lease.

airblue since its birth is operating leased all-Airbus fleet and apparently following the principle of fleet rationalization/standardization for efficient use of resources like crew and engineering. I think it also shows that airblue is satisfied with the performance of its all-Airbus fleet.

All aircraft in airblue fleet are dry or wet leased.

Dry leased aircraft registered in Pakistan and wearing airblue livery are:

AP-EDA - Airbus A320-200 - on financial lease or lease purchase agreement from Airbus Industrie Financial Services (AIFS).
AP-EDD - Airbus A320-200 - on dry lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
AP-EDG - Airbus A320-200 - on dry lease from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS).
AP-EDH - Airbus A320-200 - on dry lease from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS).

Now many airlines prefer to dry lease aircraft instead of buying them and airblue appears to be following their example.
