PIA Advised Not to Land B777 on Runways With Water Pools

According to Express News channel, Boeing has advised PIA not to land Boeing 777 aircraft on runways with pools of standing water in heavy rain.

PIA had contacted Boeing after airline's Boeing 777 aircraft landing gear junction boxes were damaged due to rain water entry.

On this issue a directive has been issued by PIA flight operations department to airline's Boeing 777 pilots.

Due to damaged junction boxes the aircraft can loose its anti-skid control.

Islamabad Airport runway has problem of forming water pools in heavy rain, according to news sources.

On December 2, 2011, landing gear of Emirates Boeing 777-31H (A6-EMR) was damaged due to similar reasons during landing at Malé Airport, Maldives, according to General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) investigation report on following link:
