Karachi, June 9, 2014: Normal operation of PIA flights from Jinnah International Air Port resumed at 1600 hours Pakistan Standard Time, PIA spokesman said here on Monday evening.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation, Shujaat Azeem said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has commended the bravery of security forces for containing and eliminating the terrorist attack at Jinnah International Air Port on Sunday night. He praised the sacrifices of the martyrs who lost their lives due to the terrorist attack.
During the night of 8th June 2014, ten foreign terrorists attacked Jinnah International Air Port Karachi by entering through Fokker and International Cargo Gate. Timely action of Pakistan Army, Rangers, Airports Security Force (ASF), Police and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) personnel ensured that the damage was kept to minimum.
Shujaat Azeem personally supervised the resumption of flight operation at Jinnah International Air Port which became possible on Monday afternoon after airport was cleared for flight operations. He visited all areas of Karachi airport along with Director General CAA, Air Marshal (retd) Muhammad Yousaf and Director General ASF, Brigadier Muhammad Azam Tiwana.
Besides others four PIA Engineering Employees lost their lives while four injured.
In a condolence message, Shujaat Azeem expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the killings of PIA Engineers who lost their lives while on duty.
“The entire PIA family is deeply saddened on the loss of four employees of PIA Engineering who lost their lives namely Fakhir Laghari, S.M Ilyas, Tanveer A Khan and Fazal Zuberi . May Allah Grant them eternal peace and strength to the family members of the departed soulsâ€ÂÂ.
“Our prayers go out for the speedy recovery of all injured. We are grateful for the patience and discipline shown by the passengers present at the airport which helped in success of the operationâ€ÂÂ, he said.
Around 20 PIA flights were disturbed due to the heinous terrorist attack. One domestic flight was diverted to Nawabshah while three flights coming from abroad were diverted to Lahore. The passengers of the diverted flights were well looked after at alternate airports i.e. Nawabshah and Lahore.
The security at all airports in Pakistan has been increased to the highest level.

Two or three aircraft suffered minor damage, according to Interior Minister.

my deaf friend Skype told me 'BFV' and he said it BFV might withdrawal for use and might maybe perhaps scrapped but maybe perhaps AP-BGG replace fly if parts available to fix??? also he said 777-340ER AP-BID and he will try to double check how many A310 damage which registration number let me know later.

A PIA Boeing 747-300 and Boeing 777-300ER that were seen parked at Karachi Airport on the morning of June 9. Don't know whether same aircraft are damaged.
Btw, one of Shaheen Air Boeing 737-400s that were seen parked near burning Terminal 2 building of the airport appears like a grounded aircraft missing engine number two and cockpit windscreens. Aircraft registration looks like AP-BJP.

At the moment there are reports of exchange of gunfire taking place between terrorists and security forces at Airports Security Force (ASF) camp/academy/hospital near Karachi Airport.
