Shortage of PSO Jet Fuel Supply at Karachi Airport

Post by Abbas Ali »

According to news sources, Pakistan's National Refinery Limited (NRL) has suspended jet fuel supply to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) due to non-payment of bills by PSO.

PSO is now running out of stored jet fuel at Karachi Airport.

PIA is planning to operate its flights from Karachi via Lahore and Islamabad to get aircraft refuelled at those two airports.

PSO has also asked PIA to pay seven billion rupees due to be paid by the airline, according to a news channel.

According to latest reports, PSO is expected to begin replenishing its dwindling fuel stocks at Karachi Airport after resolution of payment dispute with NRL in next few hours.

So far, PIA flight operations are normal at Karachi Airport. Only flight PK-735 from Karachi to Jeddah is delayed by seven hours, according to a PIA spokesperson. News sources did not clarify whether PK-735 is suffering this delay due to jet fuel shortage or for some other technical reasons.

According to latest reports, NRL has issued notice to PSO for recovery of outstanding bills for jet fuel.

There's possibility of disruption in jet fuel supply by PSO at Karachi Airport in case NRL suspends supplying jet fuel to PSO.

PIA may get its aircraft refueled from other airports.

PSO is also experiencing delays in jet fuel bill payments from PIA.

PIA doesn't pay PSO which leads them to not paying NRL.

Calling this silly state of affairs a tamasha would be a huge understatement.

PIA owes over 12 billion to PSO, and with no fuel the entire airline will be grounded, and today PIA share at the stock market rose 15% from 6.86 to 7.86. Now that is called BULLSHIT.

Out of stock: PSO stops jet fuel supply to PIA

December 3, 2014

KARACHI:
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) stopped supply of jet fuel to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as it runs out of stock, Express News reported on Wednesday.

PSO spokesperson said that the refinery which provides jet fuel to PSO has refused to supply it on credit.

The state oil company, which provides jet fuel to nine airports in the country, has asked petroleum ministry to intervene and convince the refinery to continue supplying fuel to PSO.

For a company with sales revenue of Rs1.4 trillion, equivalent to 33% of the government’s budget outlay, PSO is a behemoth with an empty stomach. Responsible for 60% of country’s oil need, it often doesn’t have cash to pay off suppliers.
