Air Arabia has replaced RAK Airways as designated airline of Ras Al Khaimah.
RAK Airways operated flights linking Ras Al Khaimah with Pakistani cities of Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar before that airline ceased all its operations on January 1, 2014.

Re: Air Arabia Planning to Link Pakistan with Ras Al Khaimah
Another clear violation of the MoU between Pakistan and UAE which clearly states that the designated airline to operate scheduled flights between the emirate of Ras ul Khaimah and Pakistan is Ras ul Khaimah Airways. With RAK airways temporary closing down its business Air Arabia very conveniently jumped on to the opportunity and filed schedules with the Pakistan CAA to operate flights between RAK and Pakistan while it must be noted that G9 can only operate flights between Sharjah and Pakistan.
G9's sharjah entitlements have been kept separate. This can only happen in Pakistan where the competent Aeronautical Authorities seem to be dishing out permissions and traffic rights to these gulf carriers just like distributing sweets to little school kids on the road side.
While PIA has itself to blame for a lot the mess that it is in right now, the CAA too has done its bit by ensuring that the national carrier and other airlines of Pakistan are left to bleed.
The UAE GCAA has never been this kind to PIA, a recent case is the DXB runway closure for maintenance which is scheduled to take place next month. Guess what PIA has been ordered to curtail its operations to DXB for which some 15 weekly flights have to be landed at SHJ. No other Pakistani airline has been asked to shift its operations from DXB, it is just PIA. Why does CAA not take responsibility for the national flag carrier?
Two years back while EK was lobbying hard to get enhanced rights to the northern gateways of Pakistan PIA filed schedules to operate flights from SKT to SHJ. The GCAA very conveniently going against the MoU which allows airlines of Pakistan to operate flights from points in Pakistan to UAE refused PIA at the behest of EK which was upset at not getting enhanced rights to Northern Gateways to Pakistan. This resulted in a round of ASA talks and an eventual increase in flights for the airlines of UAE for Pakistan.
When will our Aeronautical Authorities stop pleasing the Gulf carriers and instead create an environment which helps the local aviation industry grow.

It means Air Arabia can operate flights between Ras Al Khaimah and Pakistan that were operated by RAK Airways.
