There will be one more postioning flight to LHE and it would be wonderful if they could sell tickets for this flight as an enthusiasts flight. It could be called the 'PIA 747 final tribute flight' and advertised as such. Biman did the same thing on a much larger scale with their last DC-10 as did Iran Air with their 747's and enthusiasts from all over the world bought tickets and participated. This would be very positive publicity for PIA and if you can sell tickets for this final flight, why fly it empty when it can earn just that little bit more for you one last time?

So Sir what you are saying is that this beauty(AP-BFY) is finally going to be coming to Lahore to be stored for the young engineers of PTC in the near future?Moin wrote:There will be one more postioning flight to LHE and it would be wonderful if they could sell tickets for this flight as an enthusiasts flight. PIA is a part of Pakistan, and Pakistanis do not keep old things, we use them until they are ready to fall apart and then throw them away.
In with the new out with the old.
We never kept our first 720B, the first jet with PIA. the first 707 was sold off.
Why would they preserve a 747, its not in our nature as Pakistanis.
I just wish PIA scraps the 15-20 aircraft making Jinnah Airport look like a junk yard in Arizona.

I guess PIA official told DAWN correspondent that airline's last active 747 will be retired before Hajj and then scrapped and the reporter mixed it up in his report.

I've now moved 747-8 induction rumours/news to newly created topic viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23416.
Discussion in this topic should be kept related to last active Boeing 747-300 (AP-BFY) in PIA fleet.
