landing is facilitated with ILS CAT III navaid in such poor visibility whereas takeoff is performed by pilots so there is minimum visibility requirement, such as Emirates 623 said their minimum RVR is 200/200/200

ETD242 - the pilots I believe timed out and hence the passengers are being taken to hotels....I have family on this flight.

They were told a new departure time (tentative) of 6pm PST. Fingers crossed....

After touch down (ILS Cat 3), A/P keeps the aircraft on central line using roll ou guidance, till A/P disconnect. However during take off roll no such guidance is available and the pilot has to maintain centreline using visual cues.
