Does anybody know what happened ? He was in good health the last time I met him at crew medical less than a year ago :(

Well he was recently diagnosed with cancer, that's what I read on PALPA'S unofficial page. :cry:

Captains Rahim and Salahuddin Chughtai died soon after retirement. Captain Chughtai continued to smoke right till the end though the other was a non-smoker. Captain M.F. Nasir completed his tenure of flying and died tragically in a road accident soon after retirement. Pilots tend to carry on in pressure but don't do that well when that comes off. I never heard of any illness related to Asif during his career, so this came as a surprise, a very unpleasant one.

Captains Rahim
IS this the Captain Rahim who was one of the most senior captains on B-747 when it arrived?


Does anyone know the whereabouts of Captain Mobeen from the same era?

Yes Capt Rahim was among the senior pilots at the time when AP-AYW and AP-AYV were leased from TAP. He died shortly after reaching the retirement age. I am not aware of Capt Mobin's status at this time. PALPA could update you.
