PIA plans to replace Fokker

Pakistan-Fokker
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plans to replace its ageing Fokker aircraft fleet with modern turbo prop aircraft.

"The replacement of over-aged F-27 aircraft is included in the PIA business plan 2003-2011, and the PIA's Board of Directors is considering it and a decision is expected soon", Deputy Defence Production Minister Zahid Hamid told the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Zahid Hamid informed the lower house of the parliament that PIA initially had a total of 14 Fokker aircraft in its fleet, with the number going down to 9 in 2004 and 8 at present.

The current total of 8 fokker aircraft also included two planes acquired by PIA from Sri Lanka on lease, after its two fokkers were grounded on completion of 90,000 landings, he added.

The remaining six fokkers owned by PIA were fit and safe for flying and were being maintained by the PIA's Engineering Department as per the international standards and technical requirements, the official said.

According to my sources the ATR42-500 is the leading the race.

The manufacturers gave a heavy discount.

One F-27 has been taken on lease for a period of 1 yr and the other for 1 1/2 yrs. Two f-27 that have completed their flyinng life are in use for trainings.

AP-BCT Fokker F-27 Friendship 200 10289 1965
AP-BCZ Fokker F-27 Friendship 200 10305 1966

Are the ones which have already taken out of service, so who so ever claimed or said is not so right. I know because I have seen them. The two -500s are here to replace those 2 Fokkers and keep a minimum no of aircraft in the fleet to maintain the schedule.

Offcourse cadets will train on F27 they have no other alternative aircraft to train on.

As far as my information goes, PIA has 4 different types of simulators

1. Boeing 707
2. Boeing 747
3. Airbus 300
4. Airbus 310 (newest)

Besides that they few smaller simulators too for single engine aircrafts, its called ATC 610, this simulator is generally used by armed forces to train there pilots on instrument flying.

Well if AP-BCZ is out of service, then what is it doing re-fueling in Lahore??
