Re: Foggy weather hits Lahore - no CAT III yet
The delays are not due fog but due to CAA's inability to get CAT III installed at all the major airports especially the ones that are prone to fog like LHE and ISB.
When will this nation wake up to realities and adjust accordingly.

The real thing is CAT IIIc. That would come to use at airports such as LHE as the visibility remains none throughout the night.A340-600 wrote:The delays are not due fog but due to CAA's inability to get CAT III installed at all the major airports especially the ones that are prone to fog like LHE and ISB.

Today PK 721 left around 7 hours late, making all the sectors late. I bet the return flight PK 722 will divert to ISB.

Dear A310 your post reminds of an old song 'blame it on the rain' however, in the case it will be re coined as 'blame it on the fog' or how does "blame it on the CAA" sound.A310 wrote:Today PK 721 left around 7 hours late, making all the sectors late. In current situation, the best will be to reschedule all flight timings. At least which have arrival/departure timings between 2200-0800.A340-600 wrote:Dear A310 your post reminds of an old song 'blame it on the rain' however, in the case it will be re coined as 'blame it on the fog' or how does "blame it on the CAA" sound.A310 wrote:Today PK 721 left around 7 hours late, making all the sectors late. So many diversions. PK 304 diverted to ISB and SV 736 is going to KHI.

Re: Foggy weather hits Lahore
Well today's warning for fog was 1200UTC and it proved to be exact. If PK304 would have departed on time it would have made it. PK653 landed few minutes before PK304 and it made it easily.

Re: Foggy weather hits Lahore
Why CAA cant invest some money in installing the latest technology so that fog won't disrupt any flights anymore.
Because its only a short period of the year?
Fog is coming every year and I dont want to know how high the actual costs are for the Airlines for diverting or cancelling flights or flying back to the Origin Airport.

Due to the persistent bad weather conditions and no indication of improvement from MET Office, PIA passengers are requested to contact PIA call centre at 111-786-786 to confirm the flight timings before reaching the airports.
PIA regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers in this regard, PIA spokesman concluded.
