Delivery of first five dry leased Airbus A320 family aircraft to begin in April 2014.

A new tender notice for dry lease of five more narrow-body aircraft (not more than five years old airframes) will be issued in January 2014. PIA expects delivery of those five aircraft to begin in June 2014.

R u sure it's new tender for OTHER five aircrafts or it is the tender for the same five aircrafts which was approved By ECC
cause today I got a news THAT ECC has discard the five aircrafts approved in the tender cause 3 of them are the 2004 model and they requires aircrafts not older then five year

So a fresh tender will be issue for the same aircrafts but model not less then five year old which was approved by ECC OUT OF 10 aircrafts
Gambling with the windz

"Q. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved the leasing of five aircraft against the recommendation of 10. What do you make of this?

A. It is true that the ECC approved leasing of five aircraft for now, but this does not mean that the other five will not come. In fact, we are leasing five aircraft that would start coming from April 2014 to meet the urgent requirement of the airline. On the instruction of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, we will be issuing tender in coming January for the five aircraft not more than five-year old to be delivered by June 15, 2014. But, for the next five another tender will be issued."

I agree FL-350, this statement from the interview does make things pretty confusing. Well I guess we're heading for another tender frenzy then. :very_mad:

Absolutely right Tender for dry lease of remaining five aircraft not more than five years old will be given.
As the airline had earlier requested for approval from the Government, this will again complete ten aircraft requirement for 2014.
Five A320s have been confirmed with three from GECAS and two from SMBC (2008 & 2009 model).
Pilots training will start from January,2014.
Airline in its future five to six years plans (vision 2020) are going to expand fleet aggressively and increase more destinations taking advantage of point to point nonstop flights. Media and interview PTV.

According to a news report in the Express Tribune the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has turned down the bidders request that sovereign guarantee up to $65 million be provided for the 5 A-320 aircraft on dry lease to PIA. The lessors have also asked for exemption from Import Duty, which has also been refused. Wonder if this throws spanner in the works for the delivery of the aircraft starting April 2014.

MULTAN: Bringing good news with the start of the new year, Aviation Secretary Muhammad Ali Gardezi has said the fleet of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be upgraded with the addition of 14 new airplanes before June this year.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to mark the launch of direct flights from Multan to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday. The airline will operate two direct flights in a week from Multan – one from Multan-Jeddah every Friday and the other from Multan-Madina every Saturday.

Four new planes have already arrived while five others, which have been approved by the government, will reach this month. The remaining five will be delivered to PIA by June this year.
Elaborating, Gardezi, who is also the chairman of PIA, said four airplanes had been taken on lease and three more would be acquired on lease of six years.

He pointed out that the major reason behind the losses suffered by the air carrier was the use of airplanes on wrong routes. Before the current management took over, he said, big planes were used on small routes and small planes operated on big routes.

“At present, PIA is earning Rs8 billion a month and our target is Rs15 billion,” he claimed.
Despite losses and high fuel prices, he said, PIA had expanded its network all across the world. “We have started four flights a week to Toronto (Canada) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). More international routes will be introduced.”

Talking about challenges, Gardezi said the biggest challenge the carrier faced was higher fuel prices. “We are paying 56% of our total revenues to cover fuel expenses and only 18% goes for payment of salaries to the employees.”

Totally Absurd . I'm pretty sure no aircraft is coming .Things aren't looking good at all .They will rather extend the lease period of those 4 wet leased planes and will add nothing more which will eventually lead to further destruction of the carrier because our Jumbos are not flying and most of our crew is sitting home and getting paid for nothing and PIA is paying a very high rate for the wet leased planes and spending a lot on the accomodation of the foreign crew
.They are more interested in privatizing this asset and give it to somebody who could eat up the leftovers without being questioned .I was really hopeful this time after i saw these tenders and seriousness but sadly it will remain a dream .Still keeping the dream alive .....
P.S the source is pretty authentic and obviously I cant disclose .
Happy Landings

According to Geo News, MD PIA has said that:

* PIA has signed Letter of Intent (LoI) for dry lease of three Airbus A320 aircraft and an initial payment has been made to aircraft lessor.

* These aircraft will be dry leased for six years.

* All three A320s were built in year 2004.

* These aircraft are configured to carry 174 passengers and will be deployed on airline's domestic & international route network.

* First two A320s will be delivered in July.

* Third A320 will be delivered in October.

Probably PIA getting following three A320s from GECAS ?
