Plans to Get Airbus A320 and ATR 42/72 Simulators for PIA

Advertisement in today's (March 19) newspaper.

Request for Proposal (RFP).

For the acquisition of Airbus A320-200 and ATR 42/72-500 Full Flight Simulator on Build-Lease-Transfer (BLT) Modality


Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF) in collaboration with Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) invites proposal(s) from private parties to finance the acquisition of ATR and/or A320 simulator(s) and then lease the same to PIAC for a prescribed concession period. Interested parties can opt to bid for either or both simulators.

IPDF is a company established under the aegis of Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan to facilitate the development of projects under Public Private Partnership modality.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is a national flag carrier. Currently PIA sends its A320 and ATR crew abroad for transition and recurrent training. Both aircraft are likely to serve as basic aircraft in PIA fleet.

According to following corrigendum published in today's (April 3) newspaper, "on or before 4:00 PM 19th April 2013 the sealed bids can submitted and the Technical Bids shall be opened at 4:30 PM 19th April 2013".

The Bidders' Conference for the "ATR and A320 Simulator Project" which was to be held on the 2nd April, 2013, at 11:00 AM at PIA Head Office, Karachi, has been postponed until 9th April 2013. Time and location remains the same.

Deadline for submission of proposals/bids for ATR 42/72 and Airbus A320 simulators has been extended to June 21, 2013. Technical proposals will be opened on the same day (June 21, 2013).

I think one of these simulators will take place of Boeing 747 simulator at PTC - Karachi.

Most likely sale notice of PIA Boeing 747 simulator will appear in local dailies in coming months.

Can a330 pilots also train on a320, since they share similar cockpit?
