As of my information, Engines were being overhauled. Engine shortage was occurred due to continue bird strikes and engine related incidents.
Increased maintenance cost for A310 fleet is a stopover for PIA.
BTW, PIA changing it's trend and trying to manage maintenance/overhaul facilities from outside parties like KLM & Lufthansa against it's Engine Overhaul & Component Support Program (CSP); no matter airline can develop its own.

Re: PIA Airbus A310-300 Fleet Status
A number of airlines have grounded their A310-300 aircraft.
I wonder what would be the cost to buy some spare GE-80C2s to keep BEG BEQ and BEU in service.

These four A310 are still active in fleet. Is there chance for any other A310 come back to life after maintenance or the A310 fleet will stick with four Aircaft for now?
Between what happen to AB-BEG, is she gone for good?

They should be converted to freighters once they are retired from passenger service

Re: PIA Airbus A310-300 Fleet Status
^ PIA will need to have a very strong marketing team to get business & profitably operate wide-body freighter aircraft flights from & to Pakistan.
Anyways, I think these PIA A310 airframes are now too old in terms of accumulated flight hours/cycles and will not be economically feasible for any one to get them converted into freighter aircraft now.
Secondly, it seems PIA is happy with cargo space for cargo consignments offered by its Boeing 777 passenger aircraft and does not feel the need to have dedicated freighter aircraft in its fleet now.

Thanks Abbas and Umar for useful info.
Umar, is there any chance for AP-BEG or any other A310 to return to service?
