Re: PIA ATR 42-500 Runway Excursion Incident at Lahore Airpo
It's really sad to see a atr getting scrapped, probably one of the youngest aircrafts of pia getting scrapped.
The two 737's include AP-BCA and AP-BEH?

I think PIA Board of Directors meeting was also due to take place today (April 4).
Probably information about PIA aircraft recently scrapped or to be scrapped in the near future was shared during board meeting.

Saw PIA ATR 42-500 (former AP-BHJ) at Lahore Airport in news video footage today.
Apparently the damaged aircraft is moved to some other place at the airport.

^ Raihan, I think it will be scrapped by the end of this year.
Auction notice for this ATR airframe should be expected in coming weeks.

Thank you Abbas for information. Will see if it exists there till i arrive.
Selling the airframe in scrap, does the airline get enough amount or just peanuts in comparison to the actual price of airworthy airframe?

^ PIA might have received good amount of money from insurance company for this airframe.
Parties (usually scrap metal dealers) taking part in auction of such airframes I think calculate/estimate airframe metal weight before submitting bidding price.

The aircraft was not at that place when I visited Lahore Airport some weeks ago.
Does anyone know where it's now or do they intend to use its airframe for training purpose at PIA Training Centre in Lahore ?

^ Thank you Taha for the info.
What's the exact location of that PIA office? Is it somewhere on restricted airside of the airport?

To the left of the terminal, next to PSO building. And yes it's a restricted area.
