I think PIA should induct a used fleet of 737-800s.
In all economy layout they will be perfect to replace the A310-324s plus the 737-300 fleet.
Rather then brand new A320s, why not induct a single type (737-800) for operations to the Middle East, U.A.E, South Asia, Far East, and even up to Istanbul and Athens in Europe, and domestic trunk routes like Karachi-Lahore-Karachi, Karachi-Islamabad-Karachi, Karachi-Peshawar-Karachi, and on some the 737-300 routes, induct the ATR72-500.
Single type operations to number of routes will cut costs and improve efficiency.
A 180 seat all economy layout will be perfect for a number of PIA routes.

Re: Used 737-800s An Option For PIA?
PALPA argues that PIA should go with later versions of Boeing 737 instead of opting for A320 family aircraft. While PALPA is right in sense that upgrading Boeings wont need training of pilots and other technical staff since its a shift from one version of same aircraft to later one, general opinion is that 320 family is much better than the 737 series and probably also cheap (hope someone can confirm that). PIA would probably still go for A320, guess Airbus must have sold those A310s on a cheaper price and an understanding that PIA will buy their narrow body aircrafts to replace aging B733s.

There is nothing "better" between the A32X and Boeing 737X-it all depends on a carrier's seating configuration. Residual and leasing values for the B737 are more expensive than its competing Airbus-that is a fact.faisal-777 wrote:PALPA argues that PIA should go with later versions of Boeing 737 instead of opting for A320 family aircraft.
