Does anyone know what is the current status of 4xA310's (AP-BEC, AP-BEG, AP-BGN & AP-BGS)? & When are these aircraft expected to become Active?

Saw this advertisement in today's (May 8) newspaper given by PIA for procurement of a Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine in used condition.

The six Airbus A310-300s recently purchased by PIA from Airbus Asset Management are powered with Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines.

And, the six Airbus A310-300s purchased by PIA in brand new condition from Airbus in 1990s are powered with General Electric CF6 engines.

Probably the procurement of this PW4000 engine will help in bringing a Pratt & Whitney engine powered A310 in PIA fleet back into service in case the airline is facing shortage of PW4000 spare engines.

Thank you Abbas for the information! :) Hopefully these grounded A310's would be restored into active service soon.

so they bought these planes from airbus recently with 1 engine out of service.at that time i presumed it was cheaper for them to buy than to repair/overhaul the planes on completion of the lease.
y does their sole supplier from dubai cannot get an engine for them and that on credit

PW4152 for only AP-BGN, BGO, BGP and PW4156 for only AP-BGQ, BGR, BGS but PW4158 for only A300-600R cannot fit A310

They should have specified A310-324ET and not -308 which have GE engines.

To avoid confusing PW4000 engine sellers, aircraft type should have been simply mentioned as Airbus A310-300 in that PIA tender notice.

Unlike Boeing aircraft type designation where Boeing customer code is used, the Airbus aircraft type designation includes engine maker and engine variant.

Here's explanation of PIA Airbus A310-300 aircraft designations.

Airbus A310-308
In -308
3 means it’s -300 series A310
0 represents engine maker General Electric
8 represents engine variant/model

The six PIA Airbus A310-308 aircraft (registrations AP-BDZ, AP-BEB, AP-BEC, AP-BEG, AP-BEQ and AP-BEU) are powered with a pair of General Electric CF6-80C2A7 turbofan engines.

Airbus A310-324ET
In -324ET
3 means it’s -300 series A310
2 represents engine maker Pratt & Whitney
4 represents engine variant/model
ET stands for Extended Range Twin Engine Operations (ETOPS). Apparently ‘ET’ was used in designation of A310s that were first operated by US-based airlines. Delta Airlines was the first operator of all three A310-324ET aircraft in PIA fleet.

The three PIA Airbus A310-324ET aircraft (registrations AP-BGN, AP-BGO and AP-BGP) I think are powered with a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW4152 turbofan engines.

Airbus A310-325ET
In -325ET
3 means it’s -300 series A310
2 represents engine maker Pratt & Whitney
5 represents engine variant/model
ET stands for Extended Range Twin Engine Operations (ETOPS). Apparently ‘ET’ was used in designation of A310s that were first operated by US-based airlines. Delta Airlines was the first operator of all three A310-325ET aircraft in PIA fleet.

The three PIA Airbus A310-325ET aircraft (registrations AP-BGQ, AP-BGR and AP-BGS) I think are powered with a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW4156A turbofan engines.

I think the main difference between PW4000 engine variants PW4152 and PW4156A is the amount of thrust produced by these engines.
