KARACHI, April 3, 2012: Meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence was held at PIA Head Office here on Tuesday.
The Committee was informed that PIA closed down Barcelona-Chicago route due to heavy losses and would be re-deploying capacity to New York. Besides, as soon as the Business Plan is approved more destinations would be explored.

Its being increased from 3 to 5 times per week with the additional two weekly flights being planned to operate via CDG-Paris with 5th freedom traffic rights.

sending the 777 to cdg will avoid its a310 get grounded by the french.
does the return fly also come via cdg?

Re: PIA Planning to Operate More Flights for New York
why in all places CDG? its such a hassle for many to fly through the airport, and is a route with much competition, AA,AF,CO,DL,
And would it not be better if they have flights to JFK from ISB?

Re: PIA Planning to Operate More Flights for New York
Bad move to operate via Paris.
For example a flight takes off with 320 passengers from Lahore for New York via Paris.
120 get off in Paris, and another 20 board for New York.
The aircraft then takes off with only 220 passengers for New York.
The 100 empty seats on the final leg will kill the flight eventually.
PIA needs to market the end product, NEW YORK.
PIA should operate all flights into New York via Shannon. Use it as a tech stop for refueling.
Then fly back non-stop. Why mix North American and Paris traffic on one flight.
PIA can never attract passengers from Paris to New York.
Karachi-Shannon-New York-Karachi 3 weekly
Lahore-Shannon-New York-Lahore 3 weekly
Islamabad-Shannon-New York-Islamabad 1 weekly
Daily flight into JFK.

i think we need to wait for the official details. on a.net there were some americans praising pia cheap business class tickets from barcelona to chicago.i agree competition will be tough on cdg-jfk.
if its just a techinical/security stop then i guess u have other cheaper/less busy european airports

Why can't PIA Operate Flight VIA Shanon, Landing Fee and Airport Charges are Cheaper compared to CDG or Even Manchester!

Plus with US immigration now available within Ireland, PK must be blind not to pick up such an advantage

It is utter inconvenience for all passengers to go through customs and then back on the plane for another 8 hour ordeal.baberblues wrote:Plus with US immigration now available within Ireland, PK must be blind not to pick up such an advantage
