Nowadays no airport scenery is complete without spotting red, green and black tail of Emirates. Truly a global carrier it has earned the title.

Really a very great news, It's due to high frequency of Emirates that compelled me to visit Pakistan frequently. I am assuming that this flight will even save my more time, if i fly from DFW-DXB-KHI sector.

Previously i used to take 6:00 PM flight to KHI after almost wait time of six hours for my connection, now new flight will depart at 2:55pm from DXB, so i will have to wait for only three hours which is very impressive and sort of minimum req'd time for transfer.

On the other hand, PIA is running on un-explained business model. Failed miserably to provide service against value of money. I was big advocate of PIA, but casual attitude towards every business aspect specially by short sighted management and self-centric, perk loving cabin/cockpit crew force me to think the other way.

^ Flights between Karachi and Dubai come under Open Skies policy which means there's no restriction on number of airlines or number of flights between Karachi and Dubai. The competition is open for all airlines on this sector.

KARaCHI is a lost cause for PIA i think they should now build the entire PIA infrastructure at ISB new airport. karachi has been devoured by gulf carriers . let them have it. lahore has some hope with a few new carriers.but PIA can only survive with 1 hub offering long haul service and that is ISLAMABAD

Let the new ISB complete and I guess Emirates would be desperate to increase frequency to this place as well. They are probably not doing it right now due to the size and facilities current ISB offers. Right now they have one arrival and one departure from ISB. They can expect passenger load enough for operating 3 flights/day out of ISB

2 hrs of flight time coming in , 2 flying out , Min. 1 hr turn around time =5 hrs x 5 flights ....

so, Ek will be operating 25 hrs a day.

Even if they run these flights on seasonal / occasional basis they can fill up a
10 abreast 777-300 and Cargo hold full of meat and mangoes.

Why are they so keen to extract the potential out of this single sector ?

=D> very soon pia will be a flying a b737 once weekly to dubai.
even if they use a 380 they can fill it. their success is the result of the decline of pia- certainly not the cause of the decline. who will avoid a b777 o fly a b737? 200series if u fly shaheen or bhoja

Starting August, Emirates will be operating 54 weekly flights to and from four cities in Pakistan – Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar – of which two frequencies are subject to Government approval.
