Post by Abbas Ali »

Boeing 737-4H6 (registration N829AR) in full livery of Shaheen Air International (SAI) photographed at Toulouse Airport, France, on January 22, 2012.

Interesting to note 'Shaheen' title painted above cabin window line on this Boeing 737.

Looks very nice. For me it looks much better with Shaheen painted above the cabin windows. I think this livery will suit big widebody jets greatly. Kind of reminds me a bit of Gulf Air livery.

Hopefully this one will be registered in Pakistan soon.

Good to see Shaheen Air go in the right direction. Inducting something else than 737-200s.

PIA should have dry leased a few of these for a couple of years until they could afford newer planes.

The same crew could have operated the 400s that operate the 300s.

N829AR (c/n 26460, l/n 2533), a former Malaysia Airlines 737-4H6, that was acquired by the AAR Corporation (a Bank of Utah trustee) is at HNL, as it is being ferried from KUL to the mainland (via ROR, MAJ, and HNL). N829AR arrived late Saturday night, and has been undergoing maintenance on the right main landing gear on the AirService Hawaii ramp. It's scheduled to continue onto OAK, then IND, later this evening.

It was registered as 9M-MQC when it was delivered to MAS in October 1993. The 737-4H6 was sold to the AAR Corporation last month, and stored.

Special thanks to blog fan Gerald C for noticing N829AR parked on the AirService Hawaii ramp, and notifying us.

Following is delivery flight route for Shaheen Air Boeing 737-400 (registration N829AR).

Indianapolis International Airport (IND), USA -> L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA), Bermuda -> Santa Maria, Vila Do Porto Airport (SMA), Portugal -> Toulouse, Blagnac Airport (TLS), France -> Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), Istanbul, Turkey -> Jinnah International Airport (KHI), Karachi, Pakistan.

I guess beautiful paint job on this Boeing 737-400 was done at Indianapolis Airport, USA.

Indeed the paintjob is done properly and look very nice.

Wonder how long time it usually takes to get this aircraft registered in Pakistan and how long time it will take before it will enter the active fleet.

Any idea if SAI is going to open a new route which is not in reach of their 737-200 range? Maybe KSA or East Asia?

I think it's because the livery design provided to painters of this Boeing 737-400 did not include Pakistan flag on fuselage.

Apparently, the original Shaheen Air livery design does not include flag on fuselage like we see in following photo of Shaheen Air Boeing 737-277 Advanced (registration N188AW) on its delivery flight to Pakistan in November 2004. This Boeing 737-200 was registered as AP-BHB in Pakistan.

Most probably small Pakistan flag was painted on the fuselage of this aircraft sometime after its arrival in Pakistan.

Same Boeing 737-200 (AP-BHB) with small Pakistan flag painted on fuselage.

And, following photo shows Shaheen Air Boeing 737-277 Advanced (registration N178AW) on its delivery flight to Pakistan in February 2005. This Boeing 737-200 was registered as AP-BHA in Pakistan.

Interesting to note is the difference in position of 'Shaheen' painted on fuselage of these two Boeing 737-200s i.e. N178AW and N188AW.

Btw, here’s another photo of Shaheen Air Boeing 737-4H6 (N829AR) taken in Toulouse on January 23, 2012.

In my opinion, it’s a good decision to paint Boeing 737-400 with entire word ‘Shaheen’ above cabin windows line so that it’s not disturbed by cabin windows.

I think the process will take very few days and the aircraft will enter into service with Shaheen Air.

Shaheen Air may already have reserved a Pakistani registration for this Boeing 737-400 and I think aircraft’s registration will be approved on the inspection of aircraft and its maintenance record by Pakistan CAA.

Before leasing from midwest Shaheen was making fuel stop in Karachi for the flight towards Kuwait. After the induction of this aircraft no need to make fueling stop and can fly directly to the Gulf destinations. This will incourage the pessengers to fly with Shaheen.

But according the information i get from Wikipedia there is not much difference in range between 732 and 734.

Look at the chart provided at the website. It is more a general overview, but it gives somewhat understanding of the range.

The only increase would be in seating capacity.

I am also a bit surprised by the range, i thought that range should have been increased. The dramatically increase is on the next generation series, where the leased Midwest aircraft belonged. That is probably why it could do a non-stop service to Kuwait.

I traveled with PIA 737/300 from Sialkot to Kuwait non-stop, before PIA started using A310 on regular basis. The flight time was around 4hours and 30 mins. So I think the Shaheen's 737/400 can fly non stop for these destinations like Kuwait, Dubai, Abudhabi.
