Invitation for Pre-Qualification
Development of Bacha Khan International Air Port, Peshawar, on Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) Basis
In line with vision and aim of Government of Pakistan, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) pledges to provide the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with convenient, safe and state-of-the-art airport in the provincial capital - Peshawar. It is our resolve that an airport of international standard & facilities shall be constructed within record completion time. To achieve the highest level of quality and aggressive timelines, the project shall be undertaken on the basis of Design-Build-Operate-Transfer. Prospective bidders are invited to participate in the pre-qualification for an open and transparent bidding process.
Project Description
The Bacha Khan International Air Port, Peshawar is the 4th busiest airport of Pakistan. In terms of traffic, the airport is currently handling 186 aircraft per week and 1.3 million per annum passengers annually. The traffic is growing at the rate of 9.5% and expected to increase incrementally with development of infrastructure and economic revival in the region. The airport is ideally located to offer enormous opportunities related to business, handicraft, rich culture, tourism and adventure sports.
The fact that capacity at the airport has far exceeded the design limit couple with the anticipated influx of international traffic make the proactive development very crucial. With this in mind Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) is inviting prospective bidders (international firms/contractors/consortia with experienced local firms) to submit applications for pre-qualification and to bid on the basis of Design-Build-Operate-Transfer. The project shall be awarded through competitive bidding following the procurement procedures of Pakistan.
The proponent shall immediately undertake the design and expansion of air side facilities, terminal building, land side facilities and any capacity augmentation required for the future during the contractual term. The proponent shall take over the operation & maintenance upon completion of airport expansion for the term of twenty-five years through a concessionaire agreement.
