PIA flights from Islamabad to Gilgit

Post by turbotraker »

Salaam all.
I need some information on flights from ISB to Gilgit.

I am due to fly to Pakistan in April/May, then catch a flight to Gilgit.
From experiences last year, it seems I just cannot turn up and get on the flight.
Does anyone know how is the best way to go about this? There will be 3 of us hoping to fly into Gilgit and onwards into the mountains.

My questions are:
Can I book and pay for flights from UK?
Will I be garanteed the seats on the days booked (weather permitting)?
Is it safe to travel in a private/public vehicle up the Karakoram Highway to Gilgit?
Can anyone recommend any safe places near ISB airport where I can do some photography?

Thanks
Murtaza

Thank you, I am just waiting for the elections to take place. Then see how the situation is. If everything calms down, Inshallah, I will be flying into Lahore in April then onwards to Islamabad and either flying or driving into Gilgit. Any information would be appreciated.

I came to PK last year but only got as far as Swat Valley before I ran out of time, this year I have 4 weeks to explore and photograph.

Thank you
Murtaza
