Even today Multan has only two jet bays which means that it can support only two jets simultaneously. So I think that two bays are enough to handle the current load. Although, to plan for future, it would have been better to have four.

so most probably; the planning is for current load.

In Pakistan, CAA is not planning the infrastructure considering the future demand and requirements as other country's aviation authorities are doing. May be they need to raise tenders and commissions again and again for each upgrade :(

How many flights are handled by MUX on daily basis?
And the aircraft type used by these flights?

I think about three flights? Shaheen operates A320 and PIA ATR and Boeing 737?

by the way I flew from MUX to LHE and I have to say MUX current airportbuilding is in a very bad state when it comes to cleaning.

Direct Flights Only
No. of Flights + Origin

PIA
8 Karachi
4 Islamabad
7 Lahore
1 Quetta

Shaheen Air
4 Karachi
2 Dubai
2 Medina

Air Indus*
7 Karachi

Fly Dubai
4 Dubai

So approximately 39 flights/week.
Total 2 bridges
Turn around time 1 hour.
Total hours in week: 24*7 = 168
Total Bridge time: 168 * 2 = 336

336/39 = 8.6. The current traffic will have to increase by 8 times before another set of bridges need to be installed.
If we take daylight time only in this case lets take a simple scenario of 12 hours. Even then the traffic will have to increase by 4 folds before new set of bridges will be needed.
I can safely say that for the foreseeable future Multan International is pretty well taken care of.

thank you malshah for the detailed information, how about 1 boarding bridge having malfunction at a time, you don't think at least there should be 3 boarding bridges?

but not all the flights will require boarding bridges. atr 42 which now are even used for khi-mux wont be using the bridges.
im not sure if airlines will be 'forced' to use them or they can choose to use the usual staircase/bus combination.low cost airlines usually use their own equipments to save from payment for usage of boarding bridges

The terminal looks different from the "model" images given above. There certainly are similarities, but looks like the design is different and changed.
