Re: Airbus A310s to be Phased Out from PIA Fleet After Hajj
In November 2015, DAWN News channel reported that AP-BHN is grounded for more than eighteen months due to lack of spares.

Maybe AP-BHN ended up as spares source and cannibalised?

AP-BGR is not in active service since 13 November after flying PK897, when it first landed back at KUL within minutes after takeoff. And PK897 was delayed more than 8 hours. Any updates about what exactly was the problem?

Re: Airbus A310s to be Phased Out from PIA Fleet After Hajj
According to a report in today's DAWN newspaper, PIA management has rejected suggestion to keep ageing A310s operational for some more time. The airline is going to retire its remaining three A310s by December 31 and is hoping to get their replacement in the form of dry or wet leased aircraft in coming weeks.

So, A310 retired without ceremony? Anyway, PIA has this bad habit of phasing out long serving aircraft without ceremony.
A simple ceremony including water cannon salute for the last A310 flight with some speeches by airline's management, former & current A310 crew members sharing their memories of the aircraft type would have been nice.

Absolutely no. What benefit does it serve to keep an old aircraft, which is hard to maintain, and notable for even passengers that it's getting old. 73H would be fuel efficient and present a better image, being newer and with less maintenance issues.Pakistan-1 wrote:That's a dumb move
IMO these should have been retired a year earlier. These birds offered all they could.

They should have kept them until the replacement fleet had arrived and now they are 3 planes less in the fleet plus the whole ATR fiascofaisal-777 wrote:Absolutely no. Re: Airbus A310s to be Phased Out from PIA Fleet After Hajj
ATR issue is irrelevant as A310s cannot substitute for ATR operations. And I think the wet lease 73H might be coming sooner than expected since it's a wet lease. Should not take too much processing. At the moment potential lessor (Pegasus) might be much more desperate to give them away, then us who want to take it.Pakistan-1 wrote:They should have kept them until the replacement fleet had arrived and now they are 3 planes less in the fleet plus the whole ATR fiascofaisal-777 wrote:Absolutely no. Re: Airbus A310s to be Phased Out from PIA Fleet After Hajj
A310s are no longer worthy to fly, should be retired.
PIA should get alternate aircrafts for replacement and do that quickly. Otherwise people will fly with others.
Perhaps airblue can get increase in load factors as they have newer airbus fleet.
Too many serious problems arising with A310s, its a risk
