According to news report on following link, DG CAA Hassan Baig has said that he agrees that design for new Islamabad International Airport concourse hall is more suitable for countries with cool weather. The designer should have kept in mind that Pakistan experiences extreme cold and hot weather.
There are difficulties faced by passengers and visitors in the concourse hall and steps are being taken for improvements.

No transport service to new airport
Rawalpindi: The local management has yet failed to ply buses to facilitate citizens to reach new Islamabad International Airport (IIA). The people are facing difficulties in commuting to and from IIA. In the absence of a bus service, passengers are relying on cabs and other expensive private vehicles.
Earlier a private transport company had assured to ply 66 air-conditioned buses for people travelling to and from IIA to Rawat and Koral Chowk.
District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) Secretary Khalid Yameen Satti told ‘The News’ that we have failed to ply buses to IIA because airport authorities did not provide parking space to the private transporters. How private transporters could ply buses without parking space in airport, he said.
He said that we are continuously in contact with the transporters to ply buses on the issue and buses will be plied after becoming of a permanent parking set-up.
The transport authority had assured to ply total 66 buses in first phase, 37 buses from Rawat to IIA while 29 buses from Koral Chowk to airport.
The transport authority had also fixed the fare according to distance; from Rawat to airport (43.9 km) Rs270 would be charged for per person and fare from Koral Chowk to airport (35.2 km) yet to be finalised.

Re: New Islamabad International Airport Project
Today, the Supreme Court completed and ended its proceedings on the case of rain water accumulation in new Islamabad International Airport.
The court was informed that water accumulated in car park not at counters where boarding cards are issued to passengers.
The court directed authorities to ensure that rain water does accumulate in the airport in future and consider redesigning of the airport if required.
It's wrong to say that the airport was constructed by Chaudhry Muneer only the airport's runway was constructed by him, the court remarked.
The court said that 106 billion rupees have been spent and still the airport is under construction?

CAA directed to rationalise parking fees at IIA
By Ikram Junaidi | 8/16/2018
ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been directed by a Senate panel to rationalise parking fees at the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) for those ferrying passengers to and from IIA as well its employees.
The Senate Standing Committee on Aviation on Wednesday also directed the CAA to consider the consumer price index to increase fees and taxes in the future.
On May 15, Senator Mian Ateeg Shaikh had raised a Point of Public Importance on parking and entry fees at the airport.
Senator Shaikh, who was invited to themeeting to defend his case, said car travelling to the airport is charged Rs90.
`It is unfortunate that people who go to pick or drop their loved ones are forced to pay. Initially the fee was Rs10, but it was increased to Rs30 a few years back and now it has been increased to Rs90. Maybe it will be increased to Rs500 in the coming years, he said.
`Employees who serve at the airport used to pay Rs100 per month, but they now pay Rs600 per month. The CAA is doing this because airlines don`t pay their dues and now all the burden has been put on the poor.
He added that MOR E, a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO),charges each vehicle Rs30 in toll tax when travelling to or returning from the airport.
However, he said, the National Highway Authority has assured that the toll tax will be withdrawn soon.
CAA acting Director General Hasan Baig said cars are charged Rs90 to park for three hours, after which Rs30 are charged per hour.
The parking fee is the same across the country, Mr Baig said, and warned that companies may go to court if the charges are revised `as they were informed that the parking fee would be Rs90, and they had given bids as per the parking fee`.
Senator Shaikh said this was not a big issue and could be settled within hours if asubcommittee is formed to discuss the matter.
Committee chairman Senator Mushahidullah Khan directed for the parking fee to be rationalised and suggested that the matter be finalised in a subcommittee headed by Senator Azam Swati and including senators Shaikh and Shaheen Butt.
