This photo taken on February 4, 1986, shows AP-AYW after it made belly landing at Islamabad Airport around 8:45 AM on that day. The Boeing 747 had arrived as PIA flight PK-300 from Karachi with 247 passengers and 17 crew members. Fortunately there was no loss of life in this incident caused by pilot error. Emergency escape slides were used for evacuation. The aircraft blocked runway for jet flights for five days. However, PIA Fokker F27 Friendship turboprop aircraft were allowed to resume flights from this runway on February 6. The runway was re-opened for flights of all kinds of aircraft on February 9 after removal of the Boeing 747 from runway on February 8. AP-AYW was repaired with Boeing Company's technical assistance and returned to active service

This photo taken on February 5, 1986, shows AP-AYW sitting on its belly at Islamabad Airport. Two Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines of the Boeing 747 were damaged beyond repair in this incident caused by pilot error

Nose gear of AP-AYW extended by team working to remove the aircraft from Islamabad Airport runway on February 8, 1986. For extending landing gear the Boeing 747 was lifted with the help of jacks. After lowering of landing gear, the aircraft was towed away from runway on February 8. The runway was re-opened for all kinds of aircraft operations on February 9
